Where Exactly Is Barichara?
Barichara is located in Santander Department, about 110 km (68 miles) south of Bucaramanga. It lies at 1,383 meters (4,537 feet) above sea level and covers 134 square kilometers. With a population of around 7,000, it’s small, peaceful, and incredibly charming.
How to Get There
From Bucaramanga:
Fly into Palonegro International Airport (BGA). From there, drive or take a bus to San Gil (2.5–3 hours), and then another 45-minute bus ride to Barichara.

- Bus Cost (San Gil → Barichara): ~$2.50 USD
From Bogotá:
Direct buses are rare, but we can take a bus to San Gil (6–8 hours, ~$20 USD), then transfer to Barichara.

The climate in Barichara is pleasant all year. The dry season (December–March and July–August) is ideal for walking tours and hiking, with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 28°C (64°F to 82°F). Avoid major holidays if we prefer quiet streets.

4. Taller de Papel (Paper Workshop)
